Films: Re-Animator (1985), Bride of the Re-Animator (1990), Beyond Re-Animator (2003)
Alias: Dr. Hans Gruber, Rufus, Dr. Halsey, Dr. Carl Hill, Melvin, Megan Halsey, Warden Brando, various others
Type: Man-Made
Location: Civilized area
Height/Weight: Varies, depending on the parts.
Affiliation: Neutral, Evil (Hill)
Summary: As the gore fests pile up on one another, even the realm of science can't help but be splattered with blood. And in this case, one well-intended extremist is to blame.
History: Everyone fears and/or is unnerved by Dr. Herbert West, a young upcoming science professor who's seemed to have found the key to immortality. His green "Re-Agent" is powerful enough to stimulate the nerves and bring life to the body once more. Unfortunately, most of his creations end up running amok as homicidal zombies, or remain as sociopathic as they were in life, particularly his arch-rival, the disembodied head of Dr. Carl Hills.
Notable Kills: Nothing special.
Final Fate: It seems that every time a film ends, West finds himself in a sticky situation involving his creations that he cannot seem to get out of. But he does anyway, and his final outing in a prison he was specifically sent to went off without a hitch. He still lives on, ever improving his work. As for Hills, he got buried by a collapsing cemetery.
Powers/Abilities: Hills is the most intelligent of West's experiments, capable of manipulating the other zombies and even hypnotizing the living. He even gets bat wings later on.
Weakness: Anything conventional.
Scariness Factor: 4-At least Frankenstein tries to be sanitary with his creations! NOTHING West creates comes back properly, be it inside or out. Granted, some of his designs are a bit silly (bat-winged Hills, anyone?), but they're always walking gorn.
Trivia: -This film was based on a short story of the same name by H.P. Lovecraft. We remember the story personally for its...unsavory depiction of a black person.
-For all three films, West was played by Jeffrey Combs, who we also remember as voicing Ratchet from the show "Transformers: Prime". Neat type casting, there.
